Lembangan Sg. Kurau at Bukit Merah is located at the downstream of Bukit Merah Pond. It supply water for domestic use, irrigation of rice fields and Ornamental Fish Industry at Kerian District. When high rainfall was recorded in the upper reaches of the monsoon season , the water level will rise to an high and can reach the dangerous levels of 30' - 00''. This Condition can affect the stability and the security of Bukit Merah pond. Therefore, the spillway gates need to be opened to prevent the mishap occurred. When the spillway is opened, the water from the reservoir will enter the Sungai Kurau and then overflowed and flooded agricultural areas and settlements that are not covered with the perfect tire. Therefore this project is to reduce the impact of floods to the population and agricultural areas located near Sungai Kurau with a solid tire and structural flood control and drainage system being provided.
