Ipoh, 13 July 2022 - A visit was made to address the issue of flash floods in the Canning DUN area together with YB Dato' Zolkafly bin Harun, YB Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, Canning ADUN, Kinta District DID Engineer, Senior Officer of River Operations & Maintenance Division and Drainage Engineer of Ipoh City Council.
The purpose of this visit was to review the condition of Sungai Senam which often has flash floods, especially in the area of Sungai Senam Police Station and the General Operations Force (PGA) Office. The main cause was due to heavy rain on 15 June 2022, with the reception of heavy rain/storm observations exceeding 100mm in the area.
The result of discussions, a short-term action will be taken by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to upgrade the existing culvert by using the pipe jerking crossing method at the four intersection of Jalan Hospital while JPS will dredge the river, clean the grass and upgrade the river tires to reduce the risk of flooding in the area.
