Ipoh, 11 Mac 2023 - The 2023 World Water Day Celebration Ceremony at the National Level took place at the Indera Mulia Stadium in Ipoh. The theme this time is 'Accelerating Change'. This theme emphasizes the role of each individual, government and community to join hands in accelerating change to deal with the water and sanitation crisis. The opening ceremony today was completed by YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) was also present during the celebration. YAB Prime Minister also presented the Water Thesis Award and the Wadi Groundwater Resource Award to individuals and organizations that have made contributions in water resource management.
Also present together is YB Dato' Seri Ir. Haji Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, Perak State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee representing YAB Menteri Besar of Perak, YBhg. Dato' Rosli Hj. Isa, Secretary General of NRECC, YBhg. Dato' Ir. Dr. Md. Nasir Md. No., Director General, Malaysian Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) as well as the highest officials of ministries, departments and agencies.
