7 June 2024, Kuala Kangsar - A working visit session by the Honorable Tuan Hj Akmal Nasrullah bin Mohd Nasir, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) was held today accompanied by the Senior Director of the Malaysian Irrigation and Drainage Department, Ir. Mohamad Radzi bin Abdul Talib, Director of Perak State Irrigation and Drainage, Col. Associate (PA) Ir. Ts. Ahmad Shahrir bin Md Naziri, as well as officials from the Ministry and JPS Malaysia. Work visits were held in 3 locations, namely Kg Talang Hilir (Kangsar River), in Mukim Sayong, Kg Temong Hulu (Sungai Temong), in Mukim Chegar Galah and Kg Tanah Merah (Sungai Chempias), in Mukim Lubuk Merbau to survey the damage to the river due to floods in Kuala Kangsar District.
Based on the concern of the Federal Government through the Ministry of PETRA, YB Deputy Minister of PETRA has channeled the post-flood allocation to the State Department of Perak to carry out immediate river and bank conservation works in preparation for the North East Monsoon which is expected to start in November 2024 to reduce the risk of flooding for the area involved. River conservation works need to be implemented immediately for the safety and well-being of the people of Perak. On the previous day, a friendly football match between the Deputy Minister's chosen team (ANFC) and MPKK was also held at Mini Stadium Kuala Kangsar.
