26 September 2024, Ipoh - The Awarding and Recognition Ceremony for the Care of the River, Kinta River Basin, in 2024 took place at the Casuarina Convention Centre, Hotel Casuarina @ Meru, Ipoh, which was officiated by the Honorable Dato' Seri Ir. Mohammad Nizar Bin Jamaluddin, Chairman of the Perak State Infrastructure, Energy, Water, and Public Transport Committee. The Blessed Director of the Perak State Department, Col. Associate (PA) Ir. Ts. Ahmad Shahrir bin Md. Naziri was present to give a speech of appreciation at the event. In attendance were Ir. Salfarina binti Mohd. Sharif, the district engineer for Kinta/Batang Padang, Ir. Sasitharan A/L Manikam, the senior assistant director, JPS officers, officers from various departments, agencies, and universities, as well as members of the public.
The River Care Award and Recognition Ceremony, Sungai Kinta Watershed, is a special program implemented to give appreciation/award to the local community and recognition to stakeholders involved in ensuring the sustainability of the Sungai Kinta Watershed (TSK) through green living practice initiatives implemented . These stakeholders include industry players, universities, agencies, and the general public who contribute to the sustainability of the Kinta River Basin through improvement, protection, preservation, care, and others towards a positive impact. This program is carried out in collaboration with the Global Environment Center (GEC), Perak State JPS, Perak State Department of National Unity and National Integration, and the Hasanah Foundation.
