9 October 2024, Bukit Merah - In conjunction with National Preparedness Month 2024, a large-scale disaster simulation exercise involving various rescue agencies was held at the Bukit Merah Dam. The simulation scenario involves the failure of the dam gate, which has caused flooding in the nearest village area, causing rescue agencies to act quickly to rescue flood victims, drowning victims and also victims hit by bomb blast fragments. JPS Perak, accompanied by Associate Colonel (PA) Ir. Ts. Ahmad Shahrir bin Md. Naziri, the Director, organized this disaster training.
Many thanks to the District and Tanah Kerian Officer, Tuan Saidi bin Hj Shaari, as Chairman of District Disaster Management, Supt. Juna bin Yusoff as the District Police Chief, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defense Force, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Community Development Department, Kerian District Public Works Department, and agencies observing this exercise, which went smoothly.
