River and Coastal Engineering Division

Role

Planning, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of river management policies and programs to ensure that river basins are managed perfectly for the preservation of water quantity and quality.

Objective

Planning, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of coastal erosion control policies and projects, improving river estuaries, and collecting and supplying data related to coastal engineering. Assisting the department in providing technical advice on coastal zone management.

The River Section is responsible for planning and coordinating the implementation of various programs, projects, and activities related to river management, including the coordination and monitoring of policy and legislative implementation to ensure that river basins are managed properly to preserve the quantity and quality of water resources. Composed of a Senior Assistant Director, 2 Assistant Engineers, 2 Technicians, and 2 Draftsmen.

Rivers are a highly valuable asset, not a liability; rivers are inseparable from life. Rivers become the main source of water for domestic, industrial, and agricultural supplies. Rivers are also important in hydroelectric power generation, fishing, water transportation and recreation, as well as for environmental needs to support ecosystems and biodiversity. Therefore, rivers need to be preserved and managed well.
