Water Resource Management, Hydrology, and Dam Division
Role
The Water Resources and Hydrology Management Division implements water resource management through the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach, which encompasses the following matters in accordance with the "Ministerial Functions Act 1969" and the Federal Government Ministers' Orders 2009 P.U (A) 222.
Objective
Providing excellent services in the development and management of water resources and hydrology as a contribution to the advancement of the agricultural sector, the improvement of residents' quality of life, and environmental conservation.
Function
- To collect and process hydrological data for the development and management of water resources for the present and future.
- To access hydrological data for water resources to ensure the information provided is sufficient for implementing development and management plans.
- To provide hydrological services (flood and drought) in the main river basin in Perak
Activity
Development, O&M for the Hydrological Network.
To develop, produce, and test hydrological equipment or systems to suit local conditions. Providing support services in the field of hydrological equipment. Using equipment in the main irrigation and drainage schemes.
Collecting, processing, archiving, and disseminating hydrological data and information.
Coordinating hydrological activities in the state of Perak, which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of stations and the collection of field data. Collecting, processing, storing, and retrieving hydrological data for planning, development, and water resource management.
Flood Forecasts & Warnings.
Assessment of water resources and drought monitoring. To develop a flood forecasting and warning system for major river basins. Monitoring and assessing drought in the main river basin and subsequently reporting to the Headquarters of the Water Resources and Hydrology Management Division, JPS Malaysia.
