August 8, 2025, Gerik - The Launching Ceremony of the Gerik Flood Mitigation Project - Upgrading Works for the Kenderong River and Hangai River, as well as Other Related Works in the Hulu Perak District, Perak, was held and officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato' Salbiah Binti Mohamed, Chairman of the Women's Development, Family, Social Welfare and Entrepreneur Development Committee, in her capacity as the Honorable Member of the State Assembly (ADUN) for Temengor.
The Honorable Minister's presence was welcomed by the Director of the Perak Irrigation and Drainage Department, YBrs. Engineer Dr. Asnor Muizan bin Dato' Haji Ishak. The council also invited the Honorable Toh Muda Orang Kaya Kaya Seri Adika Raja Shahbandar Muda, Dato' Ar. La. Meor Roslan Bin Dato’ Seri Hj. Meor Ahmad Rashidi, Honorable Members, representatives from the Gerik District Department, and officers from the Perak Department of Irrigation and Drainage.
This RTB project began in May of this year and is expected to be completed by June 2027 (25 months) with a construction cost of RM 45 million. It is hoped that this will reduce the incidence of flooding in the town of Gerik, which often floods during heavy rain.
