WORKING VISIT AND MEDIA STATEMENT REGARDING THE TERMENGUNG FLOOD ISSUE IN THE BAGAN DATUK DISTRICT
December 18, 2025, Bagan Datuk – Chairman of the Perak State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee, Dato' Seri Ir. Hj. Mohammad Nizar bin Jamaluddin led a working visit with the Perak State Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) and media representatives to several flood-affected areas in Bagan Datuk District.
The visit included several key locations, namely the Tebuk Semani Water Gate, the Rungkup Pump House, Sungai Burong Village, and Parit 9, Hutan Melintang, which were identified as areas frequently experiencing stagnant flooding due to continuous heavy rain and the influence of high tides.
Director of the Perak State Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS), YBrs. Engineer Dr. Asnor Muizan bin Dato' Hj. Ishak has provided detailed information to YB Dato' Seri and YB ADUN Rungkup regarding the immediate and phased actions that have been and are being implemented to reduce the duration and impact of stagnant flooding in the affected areas.

As a short-term mitigation step, JPS Perak, thru the Mechanical and Electrical Management Division (BPME), has deployed a total of 12 special mobile pump units in the Bagan Datuk District to expedite the dewatering process during the flood incident.
For long-term solutions, the Bagan Datuk Flood Mitigation Project (RTB) will be implemented, including improvements to the drainage system, upgrading existing water gates and pump houses, and constructing other appropriate supporting infrastructure. The implementation of this project is expected to reduce the risk of stagnant flooding more comprehensively and sustainably for the well-being of the local residents.
The Perak State Government is committed to continuing to work closely with implementing agencies and stakeholders to ensure that the flood issue in the Bagan Datuk District can be addressed effectively and sustainably.
