April 13, 2026, Pantai Remis – This morning, a site visit session was held by the Special Officer to the Deputy Prime Minister II, YB Neow Choo Seong, to the mouth of the Beruas River and the mouth of the Batu River, Pantai Remis.

 

Also present at the visit were the Member of Parliament for Beruas, YB Dato’ Ngeh Koo Ham; the Assemblyman for Pantai Remis, YB Wong May Ing; the District Engineer of Manjung, Ms. Nur Ain binti Alias; the Senior Assistant Director of the Corporate Division, Ir. Mohd Shamimi bin Mohd Tahir; Assistant District Engineer, Ts. Saiful Adli bin Samsudin and officers from the relevant agencies.

The issue of sedimentation at the river mouth is caused by the deposition of sea sand resulting from ocean currents and tidal phenomena. In addition, the deposition of sand and silt is also contributed by sediment flow from the upstream areas of the Beruas River and Batu River. In this regard, for the short-term action plan, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) plans to carry out dredging works at the mouth of the Beruas River with an estimated cost of RM1 million, as well as dredging the mouth of the Batu River with an estimated cost of RM600,000 to ensure smoother river mouth flow and reduce sedimentation issues.
